There's Big Game in North Park and Even Bigger Roots
This article was written by Rosemary Knerr and published in Colorado Country Life in August 2015. We would like to share it again for two reasons. 1) It's a great article about a great local business and 2) They will reopen for the 2017 Season MAY 1, 2017-TOMORROW! So Happy May Day...go get your brats! As a little girl growing up in Brooklyn, New York, one of my fondest memories was going to Henry’s Butcher Shop with my mother to get freshly ground beef, sausage and a vari

Not Your Ordinary Bowling Alley
Today is a big day for The 10th Frame, a bowling alley and restaurant that has been the hub of entertainment in North Park for decades. They are hosting the High Altitude tournament, a USBC sanctioned event. Bowlers from several states are traveling to enjoy the small town bowling alley that's been remodeled with a new modern feel. It isn't new for The 10th Frame to be hosting out of town bowlers. As part of their league program, bowlers from Wyoming have traveled south

Awe Sprinter
It’s a precarious time of year here in North Park. Mother Nature can’t decide if its winter or spring from one day to the next. It’s the season we refer to as “SPRINTER”- half spring, half winter. When I awoke to 3" of new snow yesterday morning, I did more than grumble. Then I took a drive North and was mesmerized by the spring beauty that covered the Park. Most North Parkers have a love/hate relationship with this dreaded time of year. It’s great to leave home and not

Old License Plates Can Earn You Big $$
I didn’t grow up in North Park. I’ve been there more times than I can count, but I’m a Michigan native whose family lives in Pennsylvania, and I’m a freshman at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. I didn’t grow up in North Park—but I wish I had. Jackson County is my favorite place in the world (and I’ve been to almost every US state). It beats out every other CO county by many miles. My family used to drive around Walden and I’d see all the old ZJ license plates

Hug Your Plumber Today
It's "Hug A Plumber Day" today. In honor of this rare and special occasion we celebrate our very own plunging super heros! For many years, North Park went without having a plumber, which can be a real inconvenience in a place where pipes freeze regularly. Now we’re fortunate enough to have not just one but TWO local resident plumbers. Tim Oberbroeckling (North Park Plumbing) and Jory Black (JB Plumbing) are now both available to take care of what ails your pipes here in

Senior Project Builds A Passion for Success
“Hey I’ve got great news! I just caught a fish on the pole I built for my Senior project!” The excitement this young man had in his voice wasn’t to call and brag by no means. He doesn’t know what it means to brag; he’s the humblest soul around. He called me to share his pride in a personal accomplishment gained from the daunting task of organizing a Senior Project for his high school English class. Noel Pizana is one of 8 high school students that has spent the last 9 mont

Things I Learned Livin' In North Park
1) A skunk is a flat animal that sleeps in the middle of the road and smells pretty bad. 2) There are 5,000 types of snakes and only the garter snake lives here, yet we’re still afraid of it. 3) There are 10,000 types of spiders, and about 3 of them live here, they can make us scream like little children and they aren’t even poisonous. 4) Now, let’s talk mosquitoes!!! We have two kinds: the kind that ‘bite’ and itch for a few hours, and the kind that bites and makes you itch
