100 Miles of Treasure Troving
You’ve heard of the TV show, American Pickers. Well here in Walden we have our own “Walden Picker-ing.” Lanny Pickering to be exact. He loves a good bargain and a good sale. He had this great idea a few years ago to put on a 100 Mile Yard Sale. When WaldenColorado.com first launched we began visiting about events we needed to just make happen, and this was one of them! The 100 Mile Yard Sale has been in the works for over two months and has partnered with The Trading Pos

North Park's Newest Roadhouse
There’s a sweet new watering hole just outside of town that serves two of my favorite things, pizza and beer! This isn’t normal pizza it’s wood fired pizza. And it’s GOOD… delish, make your mouth water and crave it, GOOD! Not only is the food amazing, the setting created is pretty fantastic. Located just a mile outside of Walden to the South East on Highway 14 sits Mansker Station, owned by DK Mankser an artist with a draw knife. When first approaching the log structure,

Adventure to Lake Agnes
I'm excited to share a new feature on the blog about Adventures In North Park, starting with probably the easiest hike, yet one of the most beautiful in the Park. The pictures I share are from an amazingly talented young photographer that gives me lens envy whenever he posts his new hiking adventure shots. Matt Schleppy is an incredibly talented young man that has a true love for North Park and the beautiful nature she has hidden throughout our mountainous terrain. Every ch

Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard
The North Park Never Summer Rodeo is pleased to bring the Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard to our event this year. Thank you to the Silver Spur Ranch for sponsoring their stay in North Park. The Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard is an active duty Army unit. It was established in 1965 to preserve the tradition and history of the mounted cavalry, and was the first mounted color guard in existence. To this day, the FCMCG trains and maintains proficiency in mounted cavalry skills

Hair and Nails by Karen
One of my favorite movies is Steel Magnolias, which features a beauty salon in a nontraditional, neighborhood setting. The quaint interior is beaming with class, nostalgia and comfort. The same ambiance that Shirley McClain and Dolly Parton created in that movie set can be found here in Walden two blocks east of Main Street. On Garfield Street, located at the home of Karen Knoll-Martin you will find Hair & Nails by Karen. Karen grew up here in Walden and is proud to have g

Pioneer Roots Led To Success
Paul Richard is one of North Park’s great success stories. Paul’s great-grandparents, Jasper (Jap) and Belinda Monroe, came to North Park in 1886. They and their older son, Jay, and Jay’s descendants continue ranching in the Park to the present day. Paul and his four brothers—Jay, Bob, Larry and Jim—were raised on the Two Bar Ranch at the north edge of Walden, a ranch now owned by Silver Spur. Paul graduated from Jackson County High School in 1954 and went into the U.S. Navy

Rodeo Dedicated To Jack Lewis
Jack Lewis was born and raised near Boulder, Colorado where his agriculture background began. He became tired of milking cows and found a listing in the Record Stockman for HELP WANTED in North Park on Bob Richards ranch. The mountains were calling and Jack was ready to go. Jack loaded up his wife Judy and headed West. North Park is where Jack and his bride found their passion for life in ranching. As Jack would say, “We moved to North Park and the rest is history.”

WANTED: Shiny Cars, Cute Kids and Adorable Animals
The final countdown is here to the biggest weekend of the year. We’ve talked about it for a week already, and we will continue to share details of the upcoming 75th North Park Never Summer Rodeo and 89th North Park Pioneer Reunion this week as it draws near. The one thing that ties the two annual events together and makes it so memorable is the Sunday Parade. Who doesn’t love a good parade? Music! Candy! Clowns! Kids! Horses! Cars! We may not have the biggest and longest
