North Park's Newest Roadhouse

There’s a sweet new watering hole just outside of town that serves two of my favorite things, pizza and beer! This isn’t normal pizza it’s wood fired pizza. And it’s GOOD… delish, make your mouth water and crave it, GOOD!

Pizza just out of the oven at Mansker Station

Not only is the food amazing, the setting created is pretty fantastic. Located just a mile outside of Walden to the South East on Highway 14 sits Mansker Station, owned by DK Mankser an artist with a draw knife. When first approaching the log structure, complete with dove-tail notching, it is a cabin built for function. The ambiance of the beautiful mountain surroundings remind you that you are truly enjoying a diamond in the rough.

The comfortable and rustic environment offer the perfect biker roadhouse with a full-length bar and tables to seat a crowd. In fact, outside under the wrap around cabin porch roof, the restaurant is surrounded by picnic tables to enjoy a beautiful meal outside.

Not only are there tables outside to enjoy your meal on the patio, but also stands a magnificent log Amphitheatre that is ideal for concerts on the green. A totem pole is erected amidst the setting to ward off evil spirits and welcome libation. The Picking Pears initiated the stage with a performance Saturday night during the rodeo weekend celebration. The house was packed and has become the newest hot spot in Jackson County. The horseshoe pit is ready as well and welcomes ringers to join in the background entertainment.

Totem Pole at Mansker Station

The name for Mansker Station was derived from DK Manskers roots in Tennessee where his ancestors built a fort 10 miles North of Nashville at the turn of the century. This tribute to his descendants was built on no actual plan other than honoring his family. “Everything just came together,” shared owner DK Mansker.

The hours at Mansker Station are 11AM-10PM Wednesday through Thursday and Sunday, then 11AM to 11PM Saturday. They are working the kinks out, such as finding enough help and expanding the menu. Currently they offer a mouthwatering pizza cooked on an outside wood fired oven by DK’s daughter Carly. The plan is to expand the menu to offer Navajo tacos and Caesar Salads. “Each week we will try something new and expand it if it works,” DK mentioned in referring to the selections offered. For the time being, enjoy an unbeatable pizza and a full bar to wet the whistle on your stop at North Park’s newest road house.
