Movies In The Park Features "Moana" Tonight

We aren’t lucky enough to have a theatre or a drive in any more in Walden, but that doesn’t stop movie goers from enjoying a night out at the movies still in Walden! Thanks to Tim Oberbroeckling and a long list of local sponsors, movies are played at a new venue.

“Movies in the Park” has become the most popular family activity the community for the last several years. Tim tries to show a movie every other week contingent on the weather and community schedule. He came up with the idea after moving here from Denver and felt that the kids needed something for entertainment. Tim got together with Kelli Pittington and their families organized the event and co-host it through the summer.

Concessions have always been available for any group or club to run and raise money. Movies in the Park donates the food and drink to the organization and provide the set up and clean up service. To date, only two groups have taken up the offer to provide concessions, so generally the Movies in the Park hosts provide it. Concessions begin at 8:00 PM.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets and flame throwers to ward off mosquitos. There is plenty of space to sprawl out in the beautiful landscape of the Hanson Park located on the north side of 4th Street between Garfield and Harrision. The movie starts when it’s dark enough, which is usually around 9:00 PM. The Town Of Walden has done a great job of spraying for mosquitos as well so the bugs aren't to bad this year; don't let that stop you from enjoying tonight's feature, "Moana."

What a joy and blessing it is to have community minded people willing to offer fun events for families to come together in North Park to enjoy. Thank you to Tim, Kelli and their family crew for hosting this program as a service to our community. If you feel so inclined to offer sponsorship to the Movies In The Park program, please contact Tim. He has a Facebook page to keep viewers up to date on upcoming movies and flyers are posted around town throughout the summer.
