Flying High To Celebrate Survivors, North Park and Moose

Tomorrow morning one can catch the most beautiful views of North Park, on land or in the sky. Get up early and plan for a fun filled day of activity and entertainment from dawn to late into the evening. Start by chasing balloons then go celebrate Moose or enjoy a North Park Day's celebration on Main Street with the Never Summer Quilters.

The Sky's The Limit Hot Air Balloon festival will paint the sky at 7:00 AM lifting off on the North Park School football field. All flights are weather permitting of course. Today a nice blanket of fog covered the valley floor making the media flight a little later than normal, but it was beautiful once the balloons made their showing. This year the annual balloon festival is flying to honor cancer survivors or those fighting cancer. Survivors will be given the ride of their life. "We want to let them know that they are loved and supported and we will be their crew!" A tailgate party follows the flight at Hanson Park and the theme this year is chocolate. Everything chocolate from desserts to the main course. A Balloon Glow will take place at dusk Saturday night (weather permitting). Come Sunday morning the balloons will feed our souls again and lift off at 7 AM. There a lot going on outside of the balloon festival too.

On Main Street you can find the North Park Day’s Artisan’s show down Main Street and the Never Summer Quilt Show in the historical IOOF Rebekah’s Lodge. The Never Summer Quilt Show began in 2012 by a group of local quilters and is held annually in August. Dedicated quilters exhibit their handiwork and meet fellow quilters. There is no charge for admission and is meant to be enjoyed by all, however donations are welcome. As part of the fun, a quilt will be raffled off and there will be door prizes. The quilt show is Saturday 10AM-4PM and Sunday 10AM-1PM. The theme of entered quilts is two -color designs.

Another exciting weekend venue is the Moose Fest taking place in Gould at Colorado State Forest State Park. Join moose enthusiasts to see moose viewing opportunities and learn about this incredible species that has coined North Park the “Moose Viewing Capital of Colorado.” There will be moose rides, kids game, crafts and other fun activities including guided hikes. The event is free with the purchase of a $7.00 parking pass. Lunch is provided by North Park Meats as well.

Wrap up the day with more fun after this exciting day of North Park adventures and, head on out to Mansker Station for a wood fired pizza and some live music. Joe Ghilgilia will be playing in the Amphitheatre from 6-8PM. A good time is sure to be had by all!
