Growing Pains In The Lazy Days Of Summer
The WaldenColorado.com website has become a LABOR of love! I have enjoyed sharing just a fraction of the amazing stories that are out there about North Park. No worries, the stories continue to come. As fall approaches so does hunting season + school + college + 2 other businesses. It's an understatement to say that WaldenColorado.com has a lot going on but we LOVE it that way! In just 9 months we've built and shared a website with thousands of viewers across the world. W

My Sixth Sense
It's the sound of cold, crisp water trickling over rocks and meandering down a well worn path... It's the feel of fresh air rejuvenating every inch of my body as my thirst for life is quenched... It's the warmth of the sunshine on my face and the breeze at my back enveloping my being... It's the sight of the line releasing back and forth over and over, tickling the surface as a fly taps at it... It's the taste of natures silent infusion to my body replenishing every ounce of

Ranch Life Clicks For Local Photographer
I grew up ranching and married my high school sweetheart, cowboy Mike Morgan. Together we have a daughter, Dallas (9). Ranching has always been in our blood. Mike and I both attended school at North Park. We ranched here, in Livermore and in Nebraska gaining experience to come home to the ranch where we were married. We returned to North Park to share the traditional ranching values and the strong sense of community with Dallas. We raise our daughter on the Meyring Live

The Reasons YOU Should Care About Community
Take a moment and think about the place you live in. What are important aspects in people’s lives? What makes people want to pull together in their community? This pull to unite in a community is called a sense of community. A sense of community is a very important aspect of life. (I encourage you to get the Jackson County Star to read the “inside” of this essay. Editor Note) North Park gives me a connection and a meaning to life. In school, we start building connection

Scramble To Gould To Stomp in the Snow
It was practically demolished when the state created the Colorado State Park. Luckily, the recreation hall was saved and continues to entertain people today. One special event it hosts is the Gould Ski Scramble and Snow Shoe Stomp. Posters decorate the walls commemorating the earliest Ski Scrambles dating back to 1985. They also tell a history on the purchase of the building, and offer a memorial to Ann Ewy. Ewy was one of the founders of the Ski Scramble and designed the fi

Youth Transforming Community
A Blue and Gold celebration of a different kind is happening this week as the North Park FFA celebrates National FFA Week. The national theme for this year is “Transform” which is very fitting for this group of service oriented members. Our local chapter is unique because 47 of the 52 high school students that attend North Park High are enrolled in Agriculture Education and the FFA. That’s a 90% success rate in a district that continues to see declining enrollment. Six years

How Do You Feed Your Soul?
How do you feed your soul? For some, it may be finding a spiritual connection on a Sunday morning sitting in filtered stained glass worshiping. Others feed their soul in God’s creation on the water or during a mountaintop rendezvous. Just being in North Park can feed ones soul and rejuvenate the spirit. The fresh air and lack of traffic add to the beautiful vistas and the sense of community that bring peace to many the use our home as a retreat. This weekly feature titled “Fe

The Last Safe Place On The Planet
The last safe place on the planet. That’s my home town, Walden, Colorado. I’m not the only one who feels that way. Some of those who were raised here and moved away are gradually moving back. Recently, a woman who lived less than a mile from where Jessica Ridgeway was murdered brought her family back to Walden. She felt her seven-year-old daughter would have a better chance up here. I moved back fourteen years ago, not because of the dangers of big city living but because it
